`Bhoota Kola` or `Bhootaradhane` Bhoota Kola or spirit worship is an ancient ritual form of worship prevalent among the Tulu-speaking community in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada districts in Karnataka and Kasaragod taluk, alternatively known as Tulu Naadu. With bhoota referring to a class of supernatural spirits and kola referring to a ceremony for the bhoota, the further understanding is that "a bhoot a kola is performed to appeaase and solicit assistance from the spirit remaining an ancient ritual of spirit worship. Such ritual forms of worship remain as ancient practices intended for the blessings of the supernatural". Bhoota Kola has close a resemblance to 'Theyyam', a ritual form of worship common among Malayali of North Malabar.

Kavi Shaila & Kavimane | ಕವಿ ಶೈಲ ಹಾಗು ಕವಿ ಮನೆ

Kuppalli is a small village in Thirthahalli taluk of Shimoga district in the state of Karnataka. It is famous for being the birthplace and childhood home of the renowned Kannada playwright and poet Kuvempu. `Kav ishaila` is a rock monument made of megalithic rocks and dedicated to Kuvempu. It is on the top of a small hill in Kuppalli. Arranged in a circular fashion, the rocks have been placed to resemble the `Stonehenge in England`. At the centre of this rock monument is the place where Kuvempu was laid to rest after his death and a memorial has been constructed at that location. Near this monument, is a small rock where Kuvempu used to sit and discuss about literature and other topics with his other litterateur friends. A rock containing the etched signatures of Kuvempu, B. M. Srikantaiah and T S Venkannaiah is present near the monument. `Kavimane` is the ancestral house of Kuvempu. Kavimane means House of the poet in the Kannada language. Sangolli Rayanna | ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ರಾಯಣ್ಣ

Rayanna - (15 August 1798 – 26 January 1831) Sangolli Rayanna is considered by many historians as the pioneer of guerrilla warfare in India against British. He was the army chief of the Kingdom of Kittur ruled at the time by Rani Chennamma and fought the British till his death. Rayanna was executed by hanging to death from a Banyan tree near Nandagad in Belgaum di strict. If you notice carefully, Rayanna's Date Of Birth -> 15th August - Independence Day Rayanna's Date of Hanging -> 26th January - Republic Day! Two very prominent days in Indian History!!
