Namma Karnataka

The Princely province of Mysore along with parts of North & Hyderabad Karnataka were brought together under `States Re-organisation Act` and Mysore State was formed on Nov 1st, 1956. Later in 1973, it was renamed as "Karnataka".
Bangalore being the Capital of the State, Karnataka covers around 191,976 sq kms or 5.83% of total geographical area of India.
With 30 districts, Karnataka stands in 9th place in terms of population in India.

Three Principal geographical zones of Karnataka :

Karavali -- The coastal region
Malenadu -- The hilly region comprising the Western Ghats
Bayaluseeme -- The region comprising the plains of the Deccan plateau
