Bhuvaneshwari Devi - The Goddess Of Karnataka!

Bhuvanagiri in Siddapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district is the only place in the entire State where a temple is dedicated to `Kannada Mate Bhuvaneshwari Devi`. 
Situated atop the 300 feet tall Bhuvanagiri, the three centuries old temple can be reached after an ascent of 350 steps.
Though it was Kadambas, the first Kannada Dynasty who started worshiping Bhuvaneshwari Devi, Vijayanagar empire in the later days followed the tradition. 
Finally, it was rulers of Bilagi of Bhuvanagiri who succeeded in constructing the only Bhuvaneshwari temple in 16th century.
